Love Of Oats

A blog dedicated to balancing a healthy and fun life… with oats!

Spring Is Around the Corner

Today’s weather I have to comment on… it rose up to 50 degrees today and I am loving the weather… I almost felt tempted to forgo my winter coat and enjoy the air when I left work today… I can’t wait until it is flip flop season once again!!!

I honestly have no idea where today went… it literally flew by… My morning was busy again since I went to do a lesson with the first graders and then had lots of work meetings to keep me busy through mid afternoon!

Breakfast was eaten at work today, I needed to come in earlier than normal to get some work finished, so I have a picture of my packed breakfast, pre-microwave! It was delicious and something new… I had 1/2 cup old fashioned oats with 1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein powder, flax+cinnamon, a big handful of frozen blueberries, and about 1 tbsp of crushed walnuts… I’m glad I didn’t get to take a picture of it after I microwaved because it was not nearly as pretty as this picture, more like a purple blob!

Lunch was not healthy whatsoever… it is always risky going to “working lunch meetings”, but either I can starve for two hrs until the meeting is over and avoid food OR eat what they have and eat as healthy as possible the rest of the day… so I went with option 2… I had a slice of plain pizza (pretty thin crust) with red & green peppers & onions on it…

Oh & before I forget, mid-am, I was not really hungry, but knew I needed to eat something since it would be 5 hrs between breakfast & lunch otherwise… I snacked on one of these bluebran mini vitatop muffin on my drive to the school…

Mid-pm, I snacked on two Clementine’s (which I bought at the store yesterday & their prices FINALLY went down… I got 3 lbs. for $3.99, although I had to throw out a few bc they were bad)… they were very good… I missed these guys, but they got too expensive since the prices went up due to the weather in Florida… I had planned to have some almonds with them, but didn’t feel the need to since I wasn’t starving…

Dinner was my mom’s homemade chicken parmigiana (chicken cutlets, sauce & a bit of cheese with VERY little breading – she wanted me to mention that!) with her sweet potato “fries”, corn, & brussels sprouts (which i was excited about b/c I’ve had a craving from seeing them in other blogs!)… It was really good… and I think she covered every “color” under the sun!

I had a great workout tonight… Since the weather was so nice (i know, i’m melodramatic since it’s only 50 degrees outside!), I decided to go outside and go for a “run” for about 35 minutes & I also started my “commitment” to my abs! Since I have 6 months (almost exactly) until the honeymoon, I’m determined to work on them 2-3 times a week, hopefully you guys will keep me accountable! Why is it that the body part that needs the most work, is the one thing that I avoid?! I do the same thing w/ my triceps too ~ I dread them!! I did the exercises that Chandra posted in a comment for abs, but I skipped the thigh ones… I am 100% happy with my thighs, legs, & butt, so I try not to waste any precious workout time on them… They seem to firm up simply from the treadmill & spinning… I think since I was a dancer and started at a pretty young age, those body parts have always been super easy to get in shape and are pretty muscular… my abs & arms, on the other hand, HAVE NOT!

Now I am off to have some frozen pb-banana goodness :-)   I’m not going to post a pic since it looks 100% the same as last night’s hehe… Oh & Biggest Loser is on tonight & two ppl are coming back!!  I can’t wait to see who!!!!

Betsy & Chandra ~ I’m glad to hear that you two are anticipating warmer weather as much as me!

    Tina ~ Thanks :)

Ashley ~ Hmm, I did it years ago in college, have you seen results w/ it? I’ll have to give it a try!

Have you tried Pilates for abs? I think it doesn’t feel like an “ab workout”.

And thanks for posting those links! I will have to check them out!
