Apple Cinnamon Oats

It’s a terrific Tuesday…

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and I’m at work… Well, it would be a terrific Tuesday if I didn’t have to be at work, but oh well, two out of three isn’t bad :)

I woke up this morning kind of chilly again so I decided to try Apple Cinnamon OatmealI have seen many bloggers post about adding apples to their oatmeal, but I had yet to try it… I thought this morning would be a perfect time to try it, since we have an over abundance of apples that we are trying to eat before they go bad!

I chopped up half an apple into small pieces and added some cinnamon and 1/4 cup water… I popped this mixture into the microwave for a minute until they were nice and soft and a majority of the water had been absorbed by the apple…

I added half a cup of quaker oats to the mix and an additional 1/4 cup of water or so (I eyeball it) and microwaved it like I normally would… When it was done, I mixed in a tbsp of walnuts, a tsp of flax, and a tsp of my cinnamon raisin peanut butter (I really like this pb in oats because it’s thicker than my normal stuff!)… It was SO delicious… definitely a good stand-in for apple pie :)   I highly recommend this combination if you’re looking for something different in the morning…

This reminded me of breakfasts with my dad back when I was little… Our favorite oatmeal was the Quaker Apples ‘n Cinnamon packets; however, eating this is much more filling & yummy!

Hope you have a great Tuesday everyone…

You create such gourmet meals! I love apples on my oatmeal but mine is just 1/3 cup oats, 3/4 cup water, 1/2 small apple, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. PB would be very tasty on that though…

Mmm that sounds like the perfect bowl of apple oatmeal. I’ve been meaning to make some apple oatmeal for a little while now so I definitely think I’ll be using your technique once I get around to making it!

Hahaha yeah~I do that too–whenever I have a huge bag of apples left I just chop them up and throw ‘em in with the oats XD

And yum~the mixture looks really good with the nuts & flax!

I like the Quaker’s Apples & cinnamon packets too~but yeah, they’re not very filling! And so sugary–although still good :p

Aww, I’m sorry that you’re stuck at work when the weather is so gorgeous – hang in there, and try to get some “outside time” later :0)

Oooh, the Apple-Cinnamon Oats look scrumptious; and how lovely that it brought back memories for you – nostalgic meals are the best!

    Happy Tuesday!

Mmm, this sounds so yummy. I used to love those Quaker Apples n Oats packets too, but they’re so darned tiny! And far too sweet.
