Love Of Oats

A blog dedicated to balancing a healthy and fun life… with oats!

Phillies Kick Butt

Well, I luckily made some progress on my paper this afternoon and got some good old Vitamin E in both this afternoon and tonight @ the game… It was so nice to go to a game and not freeze, since the last time we were there it was a bit chilly!

At the ballpark tonight, I decided to go for something different… We always get Bull’s BBQ (Pulled Pork sandwiches); however, we had vouchers for two free hot dogs but I was not in that kind of mood… I was reading this morning about how Citizen’s Bank Park was rated the number #1 choice for healthiest eats and thought that was odd because at first glance it’s filled with Chickie & Pete’s crab fries, Philly Cheesesteaks, Water Ice, Turkey Hill Ice cream etc… However, I decided to look a little closer at some of the options and noticed a veggie hot dog on one of the menus… So I gave it a whirl… not bad :)   I also had some peanut too but no picture (sorry!)…

The game was a lot of fun and the Phillies blew the Marlins away… We went as part of a fundraiser at my work for the Ronald McDonald house, so it was nice to go to the game, have fun, and knowing that we were contributing to a great, worthwhile organization!

TGIF…

I feel like that is a recurring theme with my Friday posts, but I can’t help it… I’m definitely a Friday girl & get super excited when they are here… especially today, except might I note that I was not happy about paying $50 this morning for gas, argh!!!  However, the weather is awesome and we’re going to the Phillies game tonight!

Breakfast this morning was a 1/4 cup of oats, 1/4 cup of cracked wheat, handful of raisins, cinnamon, half a sliced banana, a heaping spoonful of cinnamon raisin pb, and about a tablespoon of sliced almonds… definitely a hearty & filling breakfast… i had to eat this at work, so the picture is pre-microwave… After cooking this up, it doubled in size and was very, very yummy!  I loved the combination of oats & cracked wheat… I’ll definitely be doing that again!

Work was pretty busy this morning so it was a relief to get out of there at a decent time… Around 11am I had a Clif Z Bar as a snack… shocker, I know… contain your excitement ;)

I stopped at the produce store on my way home and got tons of fresh veggies & fruit (oh how I was MISSING strawberries) because I wanted to have veggies & fruit for lunch…  I got all this for $19.50 :D

I couldn’t decide what to have at first with all the yummy options, but I opted to go with a salad containing spinach, strawberries, carrots, almonds, tomatoes, fat free feta cheese, shallot and cucumbers… for my dressing, I mixed a tsp of olive oil with a tbsp each of the following:  red wine vinegar, sesame seeds, and dijon mustard and tossed it into the salad… A handful of Kashi’s also joined the party!

Now I am off to enjoy my salad out on the porch and hit the books to get this paper written… I can’t help but feel like summer is in full effect (with the exception of the paper!)…

Just to note, I decided to skip the gym today because my legs felt a little bit wobbly today from KB & Spinning the last two days, so I’m going to go for a 30 minute walk later this afternoon instead of doing a tough workout!
