Love Of Oats

Leisurely Lunch

My hunger for a mid-morning snack today didn’t really strike until 10am, so I munched on this juicy guy

I thought I would definitely need something to go with it but it actually satisfied my hunger quite well… very odd for me, but since I wasn’t hungry I didn’t force anything else down… maybe my body is getting used to JUST having fruit as a snack?!

I guess the one good thing about being at work is being able to avoid the scorching temperatures today… I really would love to go for a walk but I decided it wasn’t in my best interest to go out at lunch today (I’d probably be famished + sweaty)…

So instead I had a leisurely lunch at my desk at around 12… My lunch today consisted of a WW english muffin with was spread with Tribe Organic garlic hummus, a 1/4 of a sliced cucumber, and alfalfa sprouts… delish & fresh!  On the side, I popped up a 100-calorie mini bag of popcorn and munched on a very ripe peach… I haven’t had a peach in a while, so this hit my sweet spot!

Thanks for the comments on lactose-intolerance… I’m going to try to go dairy-free, as much as possible, and see how I feel!

Have a great one :)

Kristie ~ :) Well, I wasn’t right because my afternoon banana made me hungrier unfortunately… oh well, I’m planning ahead for tomorrow haha!

I definitely have that apple problem too, I just can’t eat them without having something else along with them. They always seem to stimulate my hunger instead of suppress it… lame. Lucky you that you managed to get away from that trickiness today! Hopefully you are right and your body IS starting to get used to fruits as snacks, wouldn’t that be nice!

arielle ~ Yeah & I heard tomorrow is just as bad :(

Chandra ~ Well, my office is like 50 degrees if that makes you feel better ;) Dont be envious, it’s really disgusting here… it’s so bad that the heel of my shoe actually left a mark in our PAVED driveway… gross!

Becca ~ I know, I’ve been craving them and luckily spotted them when I saw them outta the corner of my eye at the store :) Oooo, glad to hear I’m not alone in the apple issue!!!

Romina ~ Very true… now it gives me a good reason to try non-dairy ice creams :)

Giving up dairy is tough at first, but there’s so many great alternatives that pretty soon you’re not gonna miss it!

Your sandwich looks delicious. I love sprouts, I need to remember to buy some! I’m usually the same way with apples too. If I eat one plain I feel full for a few minutes, then hungrier than before!

I’m envious of your heat wave… it is warm here, upper 70′s, and finally not raining, but not warm. And actually in my office I think it’s about 50*! BRRR!!

VeggieGirl ~ Hmm, I don’t think it’s because of the heat, simply b/c I haven’t been outside since 6:30am and it’s quite chilly in my office! :) However maybe I was still held over well from the granola, who knows?! or could be the fiber/deliciousness hehe, but usually when I eat them alone they make me hungrier (I think due to increased blood sugar levels?)!

Heat tends to suppress the appetite, so that’s probably why the apple alone was satisfying – that, and because apples are chock-full of fiber and deliciousness ;0)
