REALLY LATE night

Hi All ~
Sorry for my late post but we didn’t get back from the game until 1:30 AM (went to bed at 2am – got up at 5am today!)… yes that’s right people… and if you know anything about me you will know that come 10pm I am ready for bed, so staying up and being out that late was such a struggle for me…

As a result, I am officially announcing that I am Miss Crankypants today :(

When we started driving down to the game, it was kind of cloudy but looked like it would pass over… no such luck, all of a sudden, the sky turned black and it started DOWNPOURING to the point that traffic came to a screatching halt… we parked and sat in the car for a good ten minutes (along with many others who did the same thing) and then miraculously, the sun came out and it turned out to be a gorgeous night… However, because they had the tarp on the field and there was a rain delay, the game started LATE… that, coupled with very long innings (took forever to get strike outs), made me a very sleepy and unhappy camper… The game ended around 11 and then they had to take some time to prepare for the fireworks, so the show went on around 11:30 and ended around midnight… it was honestly well-worth the wait simply because it’s an awesome fireworks show AND it’s our tradition to go every SINGLE year… Being that there was over 45,000 people in attendance the traffic on the way home was UNBELIEVABLE… and took us 45 minutes just to travel what normally would take us 5 minutes… I got home and went to bed around 2 and was feeling quite zombie-ish because at that point I had been up for 21 hours straight… This morning I felt like I had the worst hangover ever, except I didn’t even drink!  I’m in pretty bad shape today and tonight will be a long night since we have a marriage prep class at 7, so I can’t even get to bed earlier than normal… Hopefully I’ll make up for the lost sleep by Sunday so I’m well-rested for the ACS bike ridewhich is FOUR days away!  Anyway, enough venting, my sleep deprivation was well worth it b/c it was a great time, but I just wanted to give you the “full” story hehe…

Anyway, when we finally got to eat dinner it was after 7pm and we were famished… I saw “ribs” on the sign at Bull’s BBQ (named after Greg Luzinski & home of the best bbq sauce EVER) and have been dying to try them, so I was daring (considering I’m a very clumsy person + had white pants on) and ordered them (over my normal pulled pork)… Luckily, no messes and they were quite good but really fatty, so I only ate about half of what is pictured… The baked beans were AMAZING… I’m considering buying the bbq sauce and maybe attempting to make our own baked beans with it… I had a taste of the cole slaw but it was way too “mayonnaise-y” for me (I prefer more vinegar over mayo), so I gave it to Bill who loved it…

I know Anna had asked about healthy options at the ballpark since it’s typically greasy food and since I didn’t necessarily eat healthy, I thought I’d share with you all the really healthy options that are offered there:

Ooo I hate it when the weather changes on you like that : And sucks that you didn’t get enough sleep either! That always messes things up–but hopefully you’ll be able to enjoy a proper night’s rest soon!

Wowwww that IS a long night! For anyone that would be, so I can totally understand why you’d be completely WHIPED today! I felt that way today, and totally took a rest day, which I adored :) With your race soon (how exciting!!!) and your wedding too, you definitely need all of your rest! This Philly weather has been so hormonal! ;)

I love that you got ribs at the ball park. They look great and way to not limit/restrict yourself from enjoying something so tasty.

And hello Miss Crankypants, I am Mrs. If I Don’t Get Enough Sleep I turn Red and Grow Horns and a Tail.

Hope you are able to catch up on sleep tonight!

Linds, thank you so much for including this info! Those ribs sound great! And I agree with your philsophy that it is better to get what you like and just eat a small portion- good for you.

About your fatigue- boo! I am exactly the same way. I need 8 hours or I don’t function. I am impressed with you tho- I would have just called out/gone late to work!

I’m going to the Phillies game on Saturday- I will totally check out those baked beans!
