Love Of Oats

A blog dedicated to balancing a healthy and fun life… with oats!

All Done

The ride was amazing yesterday!  It literally flew by… The weather was great:  clear skies, although the temperature was a little hot… My only complaint was the brutal wind since it was working against us and not with us… when we were pedaling miles out in the open with no trees for shade or wind blockage, it was quite challenging, but all in all, I really think I trained well for it because I was not sore whatsoever… The only pain I had was a headache (which I always get) since I had a helmet on for a good couple of hours…

I should note that I wore my HRM to see how many calories were burned during the ride… 2200!  Insane, huh?

Although I didn’t take pictures of all of my food, here’s a brief recap of my pre & during ride eats:

  • Whole Wheat Bagel w/ blueberry preserves
  • Clif Shot Blocks (lemon lime)
  • Oranges, watermelon
  • Mini Larabars
  • WATER!!!!!

To my surprise, Larabar was a sponsor of the event and as a result, there were mini Larabars at 2 of the rest stops – I was SOOOOOOO excited!

At the finish line, we were greeted with cheers and applause… It was such a great feeling… I was starving by the time we finished, so we made a quick stop at the lunch stand… here’s my post-ride meal:

A Veggie “Powerhouse” sandwich with cheese, sprouts, carrots, tomato, cucumbers and mustard…

I’m not a huge chips person but these came with our lunch and were perfect since I was craving something salty & crunchy…

And for dessert, this cookie… I didn’t eat it immediately, but then was still hungry and thoroughly enjoyed every single chewy bite!

After I ate this, we walked around a bit then headed home… I was in desperate need of a shower – the sweat/sand combination on my skin was not so pleasant… I pretty much vegged out the remainder of the day and took a little break from “veggin’” to have my leftovers from dinner on Saturday night…

It hit the spot and put me in a blissful & sleepy state!

Thanks for all of your good luck wishes the last few days – they are GREATLY appreciated :D

I’ll post pictures when they are released (I didn’t take any, but the ACS usually does and posts them later in the week)!

Julz ~ Awww thanks!!!!!!… well my experience after doing bike rides is that I’m usually really sore the day of and then slightly the day after… so I’m hoping I’m in the clear, we’ll see!

YOU = GRAND CHAMPEEN! ;) We’re all so proud of you! And that’s incredible that you weren’t sore?! / aren’t sore! Sometimes for me, the soreness comes a couple of days after I do something, though I must admit, I’ve NEVER biked 75 miles before! That is quite the accomplishment… BRAVA BEAUTIFUL :)
