Best Frozen Dish Ever

Since I was pretty busy last night with getting stuff done, I decided to try a new Lean Cuisine that I had purchased a week or so ago at Target (they were on sale)… This one, as you can tell from the box, is Butternut Squash Ravioli… in a creamy sauce with walnuts, snap peas, and carrots… I was skeptical because I’ve never had butternut squash before and frozen meals are usually hit or miss…

But let me tell you, this one was BY FAR, the best frozen dish I’ve had yet… I REALLY enjoyed every bite and wished that my meal had never ended… there was probably about 5-6 raviolis in this dish alongside a good amount of fresh-tasting veggies and a light creamy sauce… I even tasted the walnuts in the dish, there were not too many but I didn’t expect that with it being only 350 calories… and believe it or not, the picture on the box is what my meal actually looked like after it was microwaved which was a huge surprise for me… Now, it gives me a reason to actually try making butternut squash at home :)   It’s really creamy and savory and reminded me of a cross between pumpkin and a sweet potato…

Does the real butternut squash veggie taste like that to you guys?

Oh and by the way, I ate this around 1:30 and it held me over until now (currently 5:30), so it has some pretty good “filling” properties :)

Here’s another review from iateapie… and it’s funny b/c I wrote my blog post first before reading theirs and I thought it was funny that our thoughts were similar!

I agree that frozen foods are usually hit or miss but I definitely want to try this one! Whenever I have a frozen meal, it never looks like it does on the box, so I’m excited to try it out! I love butternut squash, especially soup. But ravioli, that’s taking it to a whole other level. =]

Yum. Now I want to try that lean cuisine meal.

You described fresh butternut squash well – a cross between pumpkin and a sweet potato. It’s sweet and really delicious roasted in the oven.
