I woke up starving this morning and definitely in the mood for something hearty, but no, I didn’t have blueberry crisp for breakfast, but I tried my hand at recreating the taste in this bowl of oats… It was close though and absolutely delicious, but definitely not like the real thing
This combination was:
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/4 cup blueberries
- 2 tbsp chopped walnuts
- 1 tsp flax
Mmmm, I used to eat this breakfast in the winter months ALL the time so it was a nice change … For some reason, I love putting nuts in my oats in the winter months, but not so much in the summer months, I’d rather jam it full with berries!
I’m hoping this breakfast will hold me over for 4 hours, but I have my doubts, I probably should have put protein powder in my oats this morning because that has the ultimate filling power! I have a meeting until 10am, so let’s hope my tummy doesn’t start growling until it ends!
After my meeting, I plan to snack on a Dannon Light ‘n Fit yogurt in Strawberry with a mountain of Kashi Mighty Bites
On the Olympics front, did ya’ll see Michael Phelps last night? Three gold medals thus far, that is insane! I liked how they did the segment on him and his “average” day and eating 8,000-10,000 calories per day, that is nuts… even when they talked about his typical breakfast ha, but I’m sure he needs every single calorie he consumes since he’s a human powerhouse!
Have a great Tuesday morning ya’ll!

Do you have instant oats or do you do old-fashioned oats?
I find that old-fashioned oats keep me fuller longer. I have yet to try steel cut oats, but I’ve noticed that the portion of it decreases even with the same amount of calories at old-fashioned oats!

Breakfast looks delish. Just wondering–don’t you tast all the chemicals in light n’ fit? It was my favorite yogurt for years, but now that I eat greek yogurt it just tastes like soupy splenda to me.

I know! Michael Phelps – that’s crazy! I love how they showed that segment and then showed him stretching that incredibly fit and thin body. He’s so awesome!
Did you watch the men’s gymnastics? WOW!
Fitzalan says:
When I watched that segment about what Michael Phelps ate, I just couldn’t imagine being able to fit all that in my stomach. And he is so muscular and small. I cannot believe his stomach is able to handle it all. And yes, I am POSITIVE he needs all those calories!! I had a friend that hiked the Appalachian trail for 6 months and he HAD to eat at least 6500 a day or he lost weight. He aimed to find the healthiest but most calorically dense foods in the grocery store. It was kind of fun grocery shopping with him.

That oatmeal looks so so good. And yes, I too saw the segment on his average day! I have to say… I am really hoping that when he moves back to Baltimore we somehow bump into each other while he’s consuming one of those large meals
I would love to see him in action!

i was at dinner with a girlfriend last nite but when I came home, my husband told me about Michael Phelps and his three fried egg sandwiches/three choco chip pancake/more breakfast. Insane! But he is SO big and such a machine, it just burns right through him. He’s making me proud to be an American, I must say, as corny as that sounds (with his swimming, I mean- not his massive breakfast! That just makes me jealous.)
VeggieGirl says:
I hope that that breakfast holds you over – I’m sure it will, since it’s packed with deliciousness
Oh yes, I definitely saw that segment on Michael Phelps – as I’ve commented all over the blogging world on this, thank goodness he burns off all that fuel, since he’s RIPPED!!
