Upon going through my mail on Friday, I found a delicious surprise:  Kardea Nutrition bars! The staff there was nice enough to send me some samples of their new bars (1 in each flavor).  Thanks so much Kardea!

Here’s the goodie bag I received:

While driving around town on Saturday and heading from funeral in the morning to a wedding in the afternoon (what a draining day!), I packed the “banana nut” flavor in the hopes that it would:

1. not disappoint taste-wise
2. fill me up
3. have a great chewy texture

Here’s the star of the snacky show…

And here are the nutritionals (I stole this idea from Em‘s reviews – so much easier than typing it out!) - I must say 7g of protein + fiber is pretty impressive!

Review

The look of it alone resembled a Larabar until I looked a little closer and noticed the shine from the bar and realized that Larabars don’t have that aura to them, which, I’ll be honest, got me a little scared.  Plus Larabars are fairly held together but this one was very flexible (note the bar “taking a bow” in the above picture); however that could be from being in my purse in high 70 degree weather as well.  However, when I bit into it I instantly said “oh wow, it actually tastes like banana nut bread”… Bill laughed because I got excited because I always prepare myself for the worst before trying something new… The texture was fabulous, it was chewy, slightly sweet with an itsy bit of crunch.  I absolutely LOVED this flavor and hope the other ones are just as good!  As far as hunger goes, this held my hunger at bay for 3+ hours, which I was shocked because I had eaten so little for breakfast that morning that I packed all kinds of “emergency snacks” just in case this one didn’t do the trick, but surprisingly no need for anything else to hold me over until the next meal!
