Love Of Oats

A blog dedicated to balancing a healthy and fun life… with oats!

Phinally

Hi All – wow what a tired & sleepy day!  I was royally exhausted this morning after only getting 3 or so hours of sleep but it was so worth it.  I am really about to crash now (8:40pm) so this post is going to be a super quick recap of my eats!  Plus, we are going to the WORLD SERIES PHILLIES PARADE & CELEBRATION at the crack of dawn tomorrow.  We are slated to leave our house at 7am (parade starts at 12pm) so we can allow enough time to hop on the train and get down there early enough to beat SOME of the crowds.  We only live 20 minutes away from the stadium, but if you saw the post-game celebration last night you will know why we don’t want to drive down there (we might not have a car in one piece by the end of the day!).  Plus we are even more excited because today we got tickets to watch the post-parade ceremony in Citizen’s Bank Park (section 106, by the way!) – it should be an AWESOME day!!!!!  Ok enough yakking – here’s my quick recap!  I promise I’ll get to comments on Saturday – I have received so many nice comments and questions that I can’t wait to respond to – I have loved all the pro-Phillies comments too!

I must note I really liked Andrea‘s comment:  “Also this is so cute: “Then it was time for kickboxing… I got a great, sweaty, heart-pumpkin workout in”… I definitely agree that I have fall on the brain!

Breakfast this am was 1/2c oats (I use 1/4c water typically), half a sliced banana, 1 tbsp flax, 1 tsp crushed almonds, 1 tsp walnuts, and 1/4 Honest Foods pomegranate plank – totally yummy and totally perfect for a crisp Fall morning!

My mid-morning snack was a new fave this week – Barney Butter & an apple… love this flavor combo!

I could resist making pb&j for lunch today and really liked the combo I came up with on Monday so I used White Chocolate PB and Pear Butter on wheat bread with a light lemon yogurt (so refreshing) and 1/2 cup fiber one (for crunch).

My mid-afternoon snack was the other half of my Pure Protein Hot bar – I ate it cold this time (well, not microwaved) and it was just as yummy – i need to stock up on these ASAP!

I also dipped into the office candy jar to have not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 candy corn pumpkins – I am not one for sugary treats (prefer chocolate), but I’m addicted to these things!  I also was in dire need of caffeine and had a Diet Pepsi – usually I’m not a huge soda fan but I needed something and was desperate!

After work I decided to run to Modell’s to see if I could get some official World Series gear – the line was absolutely insane.  It went from inside the mall to outside and wrapping around the perimeter of the mall.  I think if I waited I’d still be there!  I will just wait until tomorrow to get the goods – I have enough Phillies gear to sport tomorrow :)

After my quick mall trip, I headed over my parents’ house to have dinner with my mom.  We enjoyed a yummy Saladworks dinner.  I tried the new Articado salad, except I asked to sub out the croutons and bacon for carrots and cucumbers.  I ate it with half of the balsamic vinagrette dressing pictured in the cup.  It was super filling due to the heavy amounts of avocado.  I especially loved the grilled artichokes in the salad – I let my mom try some and she replied “wow – they are REALLY REALLY good”.  If you have a Saladworks near you I highly recommend this salad (as long as you sub out the not-so-appetizing stuff like I did).  My mom just got her standard veggie salad w/ feta, which also looked yummy.

All in all it was a fun night w/ my mom – wish I could have stayed longer but I was SO tired that I needed to get home ASAP.  Now it’s off to bed – geez even when I try to do a short post, it still winds up being long haha :)

Philly Style

So as soon as we caught the end of the game, we headed out in an attempt to hit up Modell’s, which was going to open immediately after the game IF the Phillies won; however our friends Brian and Meghan were already there and told us everything was selling out and it was a zoo – so we’ll try for tomorrow.  On our way, we encountered MUCH of this – gotta love Philly…

We decided that we didn’t want to go home so we met up w/ Brian & Meghan at Chickie & Pete’s – what better place to celebrate!  I had a Miller Lite and then we all split some classic Philadelphia “Chickie Fries” :)   Our friend Brian said “um, let me get that for you…” and automatically grabbed the camera out of my hands and snapped a pic – too funny!

We all have never been so proud of Philadelphia until tonight!!!!!!!!  CONGRATS PHILS & PHILADELPHIA!!!!!  WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO… can’t wait for Friday now!!!

By the way it is absolutely INSANE in downtown Philadelphia – people are hanging from street signs, bon fires in the street (all in a good way of course), people hugging/screaming… it is so amazing what winning the World Series does to our city :)
