Love Of Oats

A blog dedicated to balancing a healthy and fun life… with oats!

TGIF

TGIF is definitely right!  I went into work a little later than normal today which was a nice change.  I was able to fold a load of laundry, put away pots and pans that were sitting in our drying rack, get my lunch together, comment and read blogs, and watch part of Good Morning America – it was amazing!  Normally I wake up at 5:30, out the door by 6:20, at work by 7, but today I got up at 6 and didn’t leave for work until 7:45.  It was a huge difference and very enjoyable :)

Anyway, I actually drank my pumpkin spice coffee with skim out of a coffee cup and not a travel cup so I thought I’d photograph the pretty breakfast picture since it’s a rarity.

This yummy bowl of oats included 1/2 cup serving with flax, chopped almonds, and pom seeds.  I was in the mood for something sweet so I added a sprinkle of brown sugar to the bowl.  It was a fabulous way to start the day I must say!

My breakfast held me over quite well and I didn’t need to eat the banana that I packed for mid-morning.  I packed leftovers (tuna patties and broccoli, cauliflower) from last night’s dinner for lunch today since I liked them so much.  On the side I ate the leftover banana…  For those of you who asked, I seasoned my tuna patties with crushed black pepper and lots of Old Bay – it definitely reminded us of crab cakes, but easier!

I realized I was still hungry and had two gingersnaps which I forgot to snap a picture of…

Mid-afternoon, I’m planning on having a Yogurt Honey Peanut Balance Bar to fuel me through spinning.  I’m taking the 5:30-6:15 class, which I’m not a huge fan b/c the teacher is easy, but I didn’t want to run again (since I did yesterday and it seems to bother my knees if I do back-to-back days).

Tonight Bill and I will probably throw together a quick dinner and then we are heading over our friends’ house and bringing milkshakes from a local 50′s themed shop that they requested them from – they make the most amazing shakes and all the ice cream is homemade (my fave is pb oreo!).  I’m hoping to order the healthiest concoction possible (either splitting one w/ Bill OR ordering a float using lf fro-yo and diet soda).

Anyone have any recommendations for me?

I’ll be back w/ our dinner and dessert choice later!  Hope you’re having a great day!
