Love Of Oats

A blog dedicated to balancing a healthy and fun life… with oats!

Back To The Grind

Sad to say I’m still a sick gal… however I do feel a little bit better today, so that’s a plus I suppose.

Hot foods have been my saving grace today – I noticed that all of the hot water I had yesterday really made my throat feel better, so I wanted to continue the trend today. I knew, without a doubt, that oatmeal was the best way to start my day, so I had a big bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon, flax, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin seeds. Truly the epitome of comfort in a bowl :)

My appetite has kind of been MIA so I packed what I normally would eat in a day and turned out that I went home with most of my snacks :/ I normally would have a snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon, but today my body was not feeling it whatsoever. For lunch, I packed one of these Healthy Choice Chicken Noodle Soup bowls and heated that up at work along with an english muffin smeared with a little bit of leftover homemade hummus from Saturday. It hit the spot.

The hummus is incredibly easy to make and some of you asked for the recipe so here it is:

RECIPE

Mid afternoon was MORE HOT WATER and TEA. So exciting :/ Then, I had a Clif Z bar because my appetite seemed to come back temporarily…

I obviously skipped the gym tonight since I am sick although I really missed not going. Oh well, I’d rather be well-rested and be capable of getting a good workout in later this week rather than just doing a crappy workout that runs me down even more.

Although I really just wanted soup again tonight, I decided to stick with my planned dinner (I plan out my meals every Friday for the upcoming week – makes it easier to grocery shop) of vodka pasta & chicken. There was a twist though, this time, for me (Bill got regular pasta), I used spaghetti squash! I baked it in the oven last night so it would be all ready for me today. Here’s my portion:

I really liked the spaghetti squash – I was a little nervous making it, believe me, but I was pleased with how it turned out. I can’t wait to have it again – it surely made enough :)

I had made a salad but I just couldn’t stomach eating it (no pun intended) and I felt like it would be too harsh on my throat.

Now Bill and I are off to finally decorate our Christmas tree. Hopefully we will finish it up tonight and soon I will get to post a picture of the finished product! Then we will watch Heroes - I’m pretty tired so I hope I don’t fall asleep. Hope you have a great night :)

Sorry you’re still not feeling 100% but I think you made a wise decision not going to the gym, because I agree that you should get a full-force workout when your better instead of a weaker one while your sick! Wise choice.

Love the bowl of oats this morning :)
