Hi Guys
I am definitely off a little bit today both literally (from work) and mentally (no schedule?)! It feels so weird to be here by myself since Bill had to work. I got up right before he left for work at 6:30 to see him off and then I relaxed for about a half hour and read through some blogs before I headed out to the gym…
On my drive there, I had half of this Clif bar that I had in my stocking… thanks hubby!

At the gym, I did a variety of abs exercises FIRST which is unusual for me. I usually do cardio first than whatever “extra” I am planning on doing, but for 2009 I decided that I’m going to try to focus more on strength (since I slack on it a lot) instead of cardio 24/7. I did the following workout:
- 3 sets of 15 crunches on incline bench
- 3 sets of 12 (on each side), using 50lb., on the lovehandle machine (really known as the torso rotation, but I like calling it that)
- 3 sets of 15, using 60 lbs, on the assisted crunch machine
For my cardio portion, I used Miss Gina’s elliptical workout that she posted the other day. I looked at my HRM and at the end of the 30 minute workout, I burned 300 calories - pretty impressive! I hopped on the treadmill afterwards to get in a quick 1 mile, which brought my calorie burn to about 400 calories… Afterwards, I was pretty sweaty so I cooled down by stretching, which felt so good to take my time and not rush through it!
When I got home, I really relaxed with two cups of Pumpkin Pie Spice coffee topped with a little splash of 2% milk… Yes, it is an exciting day here since the Eagles kicked butt yesterday!

I decided on pumpkin oats topped with raisins, flax, cinnamon, and chopped pecan halves… it definitely hit the spot and was the perfect meal to re-fuel after a great gym workout!

Now I’m off to ATTEMPT to tackle some of our wedding photo album layouts… I’m really dreading it. I’d rather just sit and look at all the pictures instead of picking them out… We have over 1500 photos and I love each and every single one – we had such a talented photographer!
Be back with lunch later
I hope you are enjoying your time off if you are off from work today like me!

I tried that elliptical workout today-pretty fun! I am a treadmill junkie so it was a nice change, but I only burned about 200 calories in my 30 minutes, so I had to stay on an extra 20 minutes or so to hit my calorie target for the day. You must have really busted your butt! I’ll try harder next time
Happy New Year!

It’ll be interesting to see if by doing the strength training first, that has any effect on your cardio. It’s kind of neat how the order in which we exercise can sometimes have an impact on how hard we work!

Wow, 1500 pictures! I’d have a hard time too!

I really should do the same – strength first then cardio! But its like some mental thing in my mind that says “CARDIO FIRST”!

I go crazy without a schedule as well, I guess that’s why I have to schedule what I’m going to do with my free time, haha that sounds really crazy…
Good luck with all those pictures, I would get so distracted just looking at all of them I’m sure!
