Wow – I can’t believe it’s almost 3pm and I’m finally just getting around to posting! Yikes, where has the day gone?!
Anyway before I get to today’s eats, I MUST tell you about the fabulous dessert that Bill and I created and enjoyed last night! After our yummy dinner digested, we whipped up some chocolate banana peanut butter milkshakes using the wonderful Vita-Mix 5200. All I simply did was add the following ingredients, put the blender on high, and 25 seconds later we had a delicious treat to enjoy:
- 2 bananas
- 2 cups ice
- 1 cup skim milk
- 3 tbsp smooth peanut butter
- 2 squares of dark chocolate (Dove brand)

This morning I got up when Bill was about ready to leave for work at 6:30am, but decided I was too sleepy so back into bed I went. Although I couldn’t really fall back asleep and just felt groggy so I watched GMA until about 8:45am and then came downstairs to brew some coffee & make some oats!

This yummy bowl of oats contained:
- 1/2c oats
- water
- 1 egg white, mixed into the oats before cooking
- 2 tbsp pom seeds
- 1 tbsp ground flax
- chopped walnuts
- sliced almonds
I piled on the nuts and added the egg white because I knew this bowl would have to fuel me for a good gym workout AND hold my hunger until after I did my food shopping for the day. At the gym, I got a great cardio workout in on the elliptical for 30 minutes and then hopped on the treadmill for 10 minutes. I worked on abs doing the same routine I did two days ago.
When I got in my car after food shopping, all of a sudden, a blizzard came! It started snowing HEAVY out of nowhere – no indication of flurries beforehand – nada – just snow! However, about a half hour later, the snow disappeared and the sun is now shining like it is spring ~ weird! It’s not warm out though, the wind is brutal today, I really thought it was going to pick up my car and take it away.
It worked well because when I got home at 1, I had just begun to get hungry.
For lunch, I toasted an Arnold’s wheat thin and topped it with crunchy peanut butter & strawberry preserves. I just bought a new brand of peanut butter, Nature’s Path chunky organic peanut butter, and couldn’t wait to try it, despite the fact that I had a little bit of pb left in my already opened jar. I’m so glad I did because I really liked this brand! It was really thick, chunky, and flavorful! I’m sure I’ll be buying it again

I had it alongside a banana – look, my lunch is smiling for you

After lunch, I quickly showered and got to work on making some brownies & taco dip for tonight.

We are stopping by our pastor’s house from 6pm – 7:30pm for their get-together and then after that heading over our friends’ Amber & Mike’s house for their annual New Year’s Eve party. It will be a late night, for sure, but I have to work on staying up that late
I’m sure I will be consuming lots of diet sodas for the caffeine punch so that I can hang with everyone else that will be drinking – I am being the DD, which I always volunteer to be simply because I find I can have just as much fun as everyone else.
While I bake/cook, I am munching on an apple and some almonds…

Since we will be leaving in a few hours, I’m planning on having a Pure Protein bar on the drive over to our first party around 5:45.

I’m hoping this will hold me over until our second party starts since that’s where I’ll probably be doing most of my munching.
I hope you all have a happy & safe New Year’s Eve!
Please DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE – it’s flat out stupid AND selfish.
I’ll be back in 2009, seems so weird, doesn’t it???
Bye guys ~ see ya next year!
