Fun Gifts For Foodies

What do you get the foodie who has everything? Something they don’t have, obviously! As with all gift giving, creativity is key. At the same time, you don’t want your gift to be only for show, it has to be functional as well. Here are some fun and unique gift ideas for the foodie on your list – from cool, modern dinnerware , to state of the art kitchen appliances.

  • City On A Plate: Show your worldliness with a couple plates from notNeutral’s “City on a Plate” dinnerware collection. The porcelain plates are sold both separately and in quantity variable sets. These plates definitely have that cool factor that you’re looking for in a gift. Each plate features a map of a specific city against a dramatic black background, with colored icons representing notable landmarks and bodies of water. Cities depicted include London, Cairo, Mexico City, Shanghai, New York and others.notneutral-city-on-a-plate-setimgnonnon1271_l1
  • Countertop Combination Appliances: What cooking enthusiast doesn’t love a good kitchen appliance that saves them time? Products that perform double duty make great gifts. Whether it’s a combination toaster and microwave or a combination coffee maker and toaster – the countertop appliance is definitely evolving. One of my favorite kitchen gadgets is a combination egg poacher/muffin toaster. Back To Basics makes a great Egg & Muffin Toaster that makes breakfast sandwiches a snap! Available in either a 2 slice or 4 slice toaster, you don’t have an excuse for missing breakfast.
  • Sophisticated Wino Gifts: Wine accessories are always an option for the foodie who has everything. From wine chillers, bottle stops, electric wine openers and cool, modern corkscrews – your options are endless. Here are a couple of my favorites:
    • Rechargeable Electric Wine Opener by Haier: Laziness at its best, never struggle with an annoying corkscrew ever again with one of these electric wine openers. Easily open up your favorite bottle of wine in seconds with the push of a button.
    • Rabbit Wine Opener by Metrokane: Unlike with an electric wine opener, the Rabbit Corkscrew lets winos put a little bit more of that old fashioned elbow grease into opening a bottle of wine. Still easier than dealing with a traditional corkscrew, the Rabbit is small, sleek and fun to use. Simply pull a lever back and forth and the cork comes out with ease.
    • Alessi Corkscrews: Italian designer Alessandro Mendini designed a few collections of cute cork screws for housewares designer Alessi. Bright colors, beautiful chrome and funky shapes define these pieces that are as functional as they are decorative.  alessi-parrot-corkscrew-by-alessandro-mendiniimgaasaas1052_l1
    • Blomus Kitchen Accessories: From salt and pepper shakers, napkin holders, wine racks, bottle openers and more – Blomus is the leader in innovative stainless steel kitchenware. Always classic looking, Blomus kitchen accessories are always a welcome surprise.
  • Countertop Vegetable Herb Garden: What culinary wizard wouldn’t appreciate having a vegetable or herb garden at his or her fingertips all year round? Aerogarden makes a great line of eco-friendly, self-contained gardens that sit right there on your countertop. Grow everything from herbs and spices, tomatoes and green beans, lettuce – the works. Perfect for salads, seasoning – let them exercise their culinary creativity.

Like I said, creativity is key when shopping for that special foodie in your life. Have fun while your shopping and try not to go for the ordinary, boring stuff that they probably already have in their kitchen. Think outside of the box.
