Its Insane

A few of you may have seen my Tweet on Monday that I was starting the Insanity Fit Test!  Well, I started on Monday with the Fit Test but due to a nagging pulled muscle (I think I did it on Sunday @ my niece’s birthday party playing Ring Around The Rosy ~ pathetic, right?!), so I decided to take a few days off until my leg felt a little better… which meant that I officially started today!

I decided to be a brave soul and post my results from the Fit Test… I don’t know what is average but I hope I can improve :)   Of course I will post my results along the way so you all can get a glimpse into this workout and if it was successful for me..

Fit Test Results (26 April)

  • Switch Kicks – 50
  • Power Jacks – 37
  • Power Knees – 80
  • Power Jumps = 35
  • Globe Jumps = 8  (These were hard & I was so uncoordinated!)
  • Suicide Jumps = 12
  • Push-Up Jacks = 18
  • Low Plank Oblique = 50

As you might have ascertained, the Fit Test was hard… and it wasn’t like one of those tests that you barely sweat… I was DRENCHED!  It definitely wasn’t what I had imagined :)

30 April – Plyometric Cardio Circuit

I was pumped up and looking forward to this workout all morning.  When I got home from work, I raced down into the basement, fired up the dvd, and was pumped to start.  Well, within the “warm-up”, I was huffing and puffing already!  When Shaun T talks about how Insanity focuses on reverse interval training, he is NOT lying.  It is clearly challenging and unlike any other workout I’ve done via DVD (including P90X, which I liked).  The workout consisted of a series of intense intervals… I really had to take full advantage of the 30 second water breaks and I have to admit I couldn’t fully keep the form and the speed that Shaun T and his workout team were doing, but I guess this will be a work in progress for me.  Plus, it also didn’t help that I had just inhaled a pb&j arnold’s thin a half hour prior to starting up the dvd.  Next time, I will allow more room in between eating & working out because I could definitely feel my lunch in my stomach the entire time!!  All in all, this was SUCH a challenging workout and I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s…

So yeah, bells should have started ringing in my head as an indicator when this is plastered on the shipping box:

I loved that Insanity came with a workout log to track your workouts and fit test.  I am keeping my log on the side of the fridge so it is in my view at all times to keep me motivated :)

I plan on blogging about each workout, my progress, and also providing a comparison toP90X, since I also own that workout series, so stay tuned! But as for now,I gotta run… it is time to head to Citizens Bank Park to watch my Phils tackle the Mets!  It’s such a gorgeous day outside – perfect baseball weather!!!!!!
