No More Food Left?

Hi Lovelies!!

Again I can’t thank ya’ll enough for your FABULOUS tips regarding running!  Seriously, if you want some tips, just scroll through the comments section on this post and you will be completely educated by the amazing blog readers I have!

Anyway, now onto the FOOD!  Just as an FYI, from this point on, it will be chaos in our house (can you tell I’m overdramatic yet?) so I won’t be responding to ANY comments, so please save any burning questions for after the moving fiasco is over when I return :)

Also, for the sake of time because we have a ton of little things to do tonight so we are all ready for our moving truck tomorrow, I’m going to keep my commentary to a minimum… I know, hold back your tears ;)

Before I get to today… last night I splurged and had a small glass of wine (unusual for me on a weeknight!) and biscotti…

Dinner was a Joe Corbi’s whole wheat pizza that we purchased from my favorite Boy Scouts (my cousins Justin & Sean)… It was a make-your-own kit and it was a great, easy dinner for tonight since I’m in the process of packing up all of our plates, cups, silverware, etc… I made some steamed broccoli and cauliflower on the side…

And with that, I am happy to say that we have successfully used up 90% of our perishable foods in the fridge… We have a few items left that we’re planning on eating tomorrow but for the most part we won’t have to throw out or waste any food :)

I can’t believe we will be moving in 1.5 days ~ craziness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two Thumbs Up

I unfortunately consumed the last of my strawberries this morning at breakfast, but luckily it was well worth it AND today is my food shopping day which means I finished them just in enough time to get MORE :)

Anyway, as for the “worth it” part, this was the best bowl of oat bran in quite some time.  I cooked my oat bran with water in the microwave but then topped it with lots of fresh chopped strawberries, ground flax, maple syrup and the star ingredient:  my almond paste concoction.

To make the almond paste, I basically roasted 1 cup of almonds in the oven for 10 minutes at 300 degrees.  Then I mixed in 1 tsp of vanilla and 1 square of 60% dark chocolate and ground up in the Vita-Mix.  Instead of grinding into a butter, I stopped short and kept it in it’s crumbly form.  I’m glad I did because it’s a great topping for oats and evenly distributes the almond butter taste throughout the bowl instead of just on the spoon :)

My mid morning snack was an orange and a new Quaker Simply Harvest Trail Mix bar.  As you know I ran a giveaway on my blog last week, and my robe, slippers, and granola bars came in the mail yesterday.  I’ll post the robe & slippers later but I couldn’t wait to try this bar today as a snack!  Well you all know how much I love my Quaker Oats, so I really didn’t want to be let down!  However it’s safe to say that I wasn’t!  I enjoyed this bar moreso than the other Quaker True Delight bars that I received.  I think because although it was sweet it wasn’t overbearing.  Plus it packed a really flavorful combination of chocolate, almonds & cranberries, both of which were visually noticeable as well as taste-noticeable (yes I made that up).  And it seemed to really keep my stomach and palate content.  Two thumbs up Quaker :)   I’m packing a bar for Bill tomorrow so I’ll let you know his thoughts too, since he is the expert in granola bars!
