Love Of Oats

A blog dedicated to balancing a healthy and fun life… with oats!

It’s Over?

Seriously, I can’t believe Saturday is over.  It always is a bittersweet thing when Saturdays are jam-packed because they are fun but literally fly by!  Our day was productive though and we got a full bedroom set – yay!  Since it flew by and since we have yet another crazy Sunday planned (church, more furniture store & appliance shopping, family dinner)… I’m recapping yesterday in pictures… Enjoy!

Whole-Grain corn Goldfish – loved this, I think I’m hooked!

Clif Z bar – my love… need I say more?

Quick dinner between shopping @ SaladworksNewport salad filled with romaine lettuce, shrimp, light tuna, olives, and tomatoes topped with balsamic… Served with a whole grain roll that was nice & warm!  I inhaled this!  I had an unsweetened iced tea on the side… PS…. the square bowl was plastic but it looked real – it was so cute!

After our shop til you drop session, I came home and was hungry so I made myself a snacky dessert of peach fro-yo with pecans, cinnamon Puffins, and a mini cinnamon biscotti

Ok now time to grab breakfast and hit the road… back before dinner (I hope!)…

Thank Goodness…

It’s FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whew… my Friday workday is officially over so now it’s time for the weekend… Ahhh, although I’m definitely becoming a believer in invoking joy each and everyday, I can not contain my excitement for Fridays… sorry guys :)   Anyway, I started out the day with a simple but delicious breakfast.  I find that I like oatbran best when it’s made with a few ingredients, which is interesting because I love adding mix-ins to my oatmeal.

This bowl contained oat bran (of course), 1 heaping T of blueberry flaxseed, cinnamon, and a spoonful of chunky peanut butter.  I definitely went back for a second scoop of peanut butter by the way!  It’s Friday, remember ;)

It must be one of those cinnamon-y kind of days because as a mid-morning snack I had Cinnamon Puffins.  The box is almost empty so I think I may have to head to the store to try the Peanut Butter Puffins that everyone raves about!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I did about an hour Yoga X today during my break at work.  I took an early lunch break at 10am since I had a meeting at lunchtime.  I found this was a nice way to calm my nerves and zone out a bit.  It was funny because a guy walked into the aerobics room where I was at and said “Ohhhh P90X!!!!!”… He then proceeded to tell me that a bunch of his friends do P90X every morning before work… how cool is that… They aren’t doing the lean program like me so I couldn’t really join it, but it seems like P90X is making it’s way around haha…

When I finished my session, I was in quite a blissful state and still am, in fact!  I love the feeling you get from Yoga… it’s really challenging for me and to be honest, I stink at it, but I have confidence that over time I’ll get better… if nothing else, I love how relaxed it makes me feel.

When lunchtime rolled around, I was looking forward to enjoying every bite!  I packed a salmon salad sandwich on a ww english muffin alongside a Gala apple, Annie’s fruit snacks, and a 100 calorie pack of almonds and walnuts

I was stuffed after eating this lunch… Do you want to know why?  Well… look at my sammie… I went a little overboard on the salmon!  I had to use a fork to eat what fell out of it!

p2191920

In case you are wondering, this was about 4 ounces of salmon (from the pouch) mixed with 2T spicy brown mustard (I looooooooove mustard) and 1 stalk of celery, chopped.

I didn’t eat it yet, but I’m getting ready to seriously enjoy every bite of this Clif Z bar as a mid-afternoon snack… I haven’t had one in over a week and missed them terribly!

Tonight’s plan involves take-out with our friends Brian & Meghan and then we are planning on going ice-skating after our food digests!  I can’t wait… I’m not the best ice skater because I am very cautious and afraid I am going to fall, but I love doing it, if that makes any sense ;)
