Tea Time

Well, our “tea time” turned out to be an eating marathon… we were presented with numerous courses and SO much food that now we are all SO stuffed… I’m not even quite sure if I’ll be able to dinner :)

It was a nice, fun time at the tea room though and we spent nearly 2 hours there and then browsed around the gift shop… I really wanted to buy some new teas, but I decided I will have to wait until I finish all the teas I have at home, since I haven’t been drinking much this summer…

We started off with a pot of tea… I wish I could tell you the flavor I had, it was a white oolong loose tea, but the name was in Japanese and I wanted to write it down so I’d remember, but I forgot and they took the tea listing away… they have well over a hundred different kinds of teas on their menu, both loose and bagged, so it was a tough decision… I enjoyed this variety, but not nearly as much as some of the fruitier and sweeter teas there… but I loved the “tea timer” they had there, I really want my own now!

Then we moved on to the eating portion…

We started off with a fruit cup filled with orange slices, cantaloupe and honeydew… there was pineapple in there also but I let my mom have mine since I’m not a huge fan of it :)

Then there was an amazing green apple, walnut, and gorgonzola salad mixed with balsamic vinagrette… this was honestly my favorite part of the ENTIRE meal!

Now if you thought that was a lot, just wait… it gets better…

We then had a chocolate chip scone served with clotted cream and jam

Finally, it was time for the tea sandwiches… this was a major disappointment for me because I love their traditional tea sandwiches (salmon mousse, cream cheese & jam, cucumber mint, etc.); however, because the tea room had just opened from “vacation” they were only serving “contemporary” tea sandwiches :(   So we had an assortment of those which consisted of curried egg salad (my favorite one!), chicken salad (complete with sliced grapes), and tuna salad (just ok in my opinion)… in the middle was a small cucumber-mint sandwich!

And to top it all off, we somehow managed to stuff ourselves even further with dessert (!!!!!!!)… I had the limoncello dessert, which was a vanilla cake with a layer of lemon mascarpone… it was out of this world :)

We finished this huge meal around 1:30 and did LOTS of wedding errands and running around afterwards and we just got back now… It’s 6pm and I’m still nowhere near hungry so I’m not quite sure when or what I’ll be eating for dinner haha…

Hope you’re having a great day!
